چکیده
Abstract Background Hernial operations may pose significant challenges due to the relaxed, dissected subcutaneous tissues and skin which obscure surgical field during open reconstructions of abdominal wall. Difficulty in operation is exacerbated, morbidly obese patient weight tissue where clear retraction extra benefit. The key adequate exposure wall surgery symmetrical retraction, failure such can prolong operative times increase work requirement assistants. Presentation use Alexis ® O system retractor for hernia repairs closure between Dec 2021 May 2022. Methods has been used nine cases: four ventral repair (with two cases needing posterior component separation), umbilical/para-umbilical one inguinal hernias. Results This study demonstrated that a useful adjunct all hernias three umbilical repairs. It proved initially difficult place first there being inadequate available sizes or shapes retractor. paper presents novel efficient approach by deployment - self-expanding wound protector hernial allowed equal tension at points incision dissection, enabling improvedexpose whole field, improving thus facilitating planning unopposed moving different positions without changing position. Furthermore, it increased freedom assistants hands them participate more skilful task aiding lead surgeon efficiency as whole. provided access both operating assisting surgeons, along with instruments could operate clashing fixed sometimes bulkymetal retractors. Conclusions Conclusions: an improve overall including umbilical, para-umbilical provides effective tissue, providing surgeons helps avoid instrumental clashes. demonstrates be easily modification provide complex reconstruction. potential application achieved if wider range were made available.

Connective tissue alteration in abdominal wall hernia.
BACKGROUND The aetiology and pathogenesis of abdominal wall hernia formation is complex. Optimal treatment of hernias depends on a full understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms involved in their formation. The aim of this study was to review the literature on specific collagen alterations in abdominal wall hernia formation. METHODS A computer-assisted search of the medical databases...
متن کاملSimultaneous Prosthetic Mesh Abdominal Wall Reconstruction with Abdominoplasty for Ventral Hernia and Severe Rectus Diastasis Repairs
BACKGROUND Standard abdominoplasty rectus plication techniques may not suffice for severe cases of rectus diastasis. In the authors' experience, prosthetic mesh facilitates the repair of severe rectus diastasis with or without concomitant ventral hernias. METHODS A retrospective review of all abdominal wall surgery patients treated in the past 8 years by the senior author (G.A.D.) was perform...
متن کاملTraumatic abdominal wall hernia.
BACKGROUND Traumatic abdominal wall hernia (TAWH) is uncommonly encountered despite the high prevalence of blunt abdominal trauma. The diagnosis is often difficult because of its varied presentation along with lack of awareness of this entity. METHODS The case files of all patients with TAWH who were operated at our hospital were retrospectively reviewed and analyzed. RESULTS A total of 11 ...
متن کاملMesh Sutured Repairs of Abdominal Wall Defects
A new closure technique is introduced, which uses strips of macroporous polypropylene mesh as a suture for closure of abdominal wall defects due to failures of standard sutures and difficulties with planar meshes. METHODS Strips of macroporous polypropylene mesh of 2 cm width were passed through the abdominal wall and tied as simple interrupted sutures. The surgical technique and surgical out...
